Reef launched the Reef Redemption program in 2007 as an initiative to re-enforce their commitment to lessening their footprint and employing what they believe to be environmentally conscious and socially responsible business practices whenever possible. As part of their product series, Reef introduced ECO ONE® foam into their sandals, to further strengthen their ‘Redemptive’ initiatives heading into Spring 2013.
Reef began incorporating ECO ONE foam in key sandal styles, allowing all EVA components of the sandal to biodegrade in an active landfill. All EVA components of the sandal are made with ECO ONE foam.
The use of ECO ONE technology has since become one part of Reef’s “Reef Redemption Program.” The Reef Redemption initiative is comprised of three components: A Product Series incorporating renewable, recycled, organic materials and humanitarian based artisan collaborations whenever possible, A Culture of Giving, creating a fund in support of environmental and humanitarian causes, and our In-House Efforts, reducing our own energy and material usage at Reef’s World Headquarters.
In Fall 2012, Reef unveiled its use of ECO ONE in several new styles including the Reef Phantom Player ($48) and the Reef Rodeo Flip ($35).
Another key style, the Rodeo Flip, has a lightweight balanced construction and engineered anchor system to remove all glue from the process of construction, in addition to the ECO ONE components.
Since it’s unveiling, the Reef Redemption line of sandals has received a positive consumer response.
